Quick. Pop quiz. Name one example of when a government prohibition on a substance or thing led to a marked decrease in the usage of that substance or thing. Just one example. Of all the various prohibitions to choose from I only need one instance of relative success. Come on. Nothing? Yeah that’s what I thought.

So even though the drug bans don’t work and the alcohol bans don’t work and the current gun bans don’t work we should just go ahead and try some more gun bans that we know for an absolute fact, based on two centuries of experience, won’t work? Brilliant. Hey, someone tell the college freshman doing the keg stand, and the guy in the basement with the bong, and the drug dealer in the back alley, and the 6th grader watching the rated ‘R’ movie, and the 15 year old gang banger with the 9mm in his waist, and the kids outside the mall smoking cigarettes, and the girl in South Beach standing out in the open selling Cuban cigars, and the moonshiners in Appalachia, and the prisoner in the yard with the shank he made out of a toothbrush, and the woman with a pirated Twilight DVD that the government has FINALLY figured out a fail-safe way to curb gun violence: Prohibition. I’m sure they’ll all be sure impressed with this ingenious new method.

The “gun control” debate tires me because the “other side”, that being the anti-Constitution side, is so damned insistent on NEVER LEARNING A FREAKING THING FROM PAST EXPERIENCES. I’d laugh at these people if I wasn’t so disgusted at them for being such liberty hating cowards. But what’s my number one reason for opposing “gun control”? Well, there’s, you know, this old thing: “The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”. In fact I think that’s so painfully clear, concise and absolute that I want to keep repeating it over and over again until it sinks into the thick, impenetrable minds of these Statist stooges. The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Getting through yet? Anything? No?

Well let’s go back to my other point then: gun bans never work. They haven’t worked. The don’t work. They won’t work. No ban on any tangible thing ever works. It only succeeds in driving the usage of the prohibited item underground, thereby breeding recklessness and abuse like bacteria in a petri dish. How many more times do we have to dance to this song before you people start to figure out the choreography? And how effective can the government be in the “gun control” department when they have been in the business of handing guns to drug cartels and terrorists worldwide for decades? “Here you go, violent Syrian mob, take another 90 boxes of AR-15’s, just make sure they don’t end up in the hands of murderers. I mean, except for the murderers who will murder people we’d like to see murdered. Anyway, enjoy!” Oh yeah. These folks are REALLY concerned about “responsible gun ownership”.

For the love of God, get a clue.
